History, the sixties

The Sixties!

In the 1960s, traditional inflatable boats were essentially flat-bottomed rafts. The key innovation was the introduction of the inflatable keel. This air tube, positioned under the floorboards (the wooden deck), created a 'V' shape in the hull. This simple addition drastically improved directional stability and the ability to 'cut' through small waves, transforming the inflatable boat from a simple tender into a more capable vessel.

The Seventies!

The year of singularity, 1975, saw the birth of the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). This ingenious idea combined the best of two worlds: a rigid fiberglass hull, offering speed and seaworthiness, with inflatable tubes, providing unbeatable stability and safety.

The Eighties!

The '80s marked the expansion of RIBs into the recreational boating market. Boaters began to appreciate their versatility, safety, and ease of handling. Manufacturers responded with models designed for families and leisure, starting to integrate steering consoles and more comfortable seating. The inflatable boat became synonymous with fun.

On the threshold of the new millennium, the RIB has become a truly 360-degree vessel. The market saw the rise of 'maxi-RIBs', large boats with luxurious fittings, sunbathing areas, ergonomic seating, and even sumptuous cabins.
